Sure there are but they're hard to find ...

I can see this more on the coasts than in the Midwest. In these parts and I know Erich has mentioned this for his area too, there are a lot of hard working white guys who are willing to go the extra mile and are looking for a future with a company, not just a paycheck on Friday.

I can see how it varies with where you are located.

To A lot of American born it's a nowhere job, layoffs end of season, doesn't snow, unemployment hassles ... many Hispanics go home in the winter it's a perfect match.

I've learned something in the past year that I'd like to share.

Lawn & landscape Company owners that are satisified with their American born workforce, are all still working out in the field ALONG WITH their workers each day.

My American workers were good too as long as I was working with them everyday.

When I started trying to work ON my business instead of IN my business, everything went to hell with my American workers!

With my Mexican workers, I do not have to babysit. They work hard and smart weather I'm there or not.

What about this.

When Bush signs the bill all the mexicans turn into Meximericans witch means they now have rights to do what they almost want to do in America and not fear on having to be deported.They will have rights,a SS# and a DL,while getting benifits,and dont forget they do live in America like we do so their cost of living is the same as ours.
Then, they will see that they can earn more money at doing the same job that they do now ,Because no one wants there job as a manual labor,Because thats all they can do, Because No hablar English.
So, They will get LAZEY, Because they think they should be making more money like "The White Man" and their time should cost more for them to even get up in the morning.(And they will get it)Because they know that you think they "Work Harder"

What I'm trying to say is AMERICA MAKES YOU LAZY!!!Even if you are mexican.And soon hard working mexicans will be hard to find (like hard working Americans) because they are now meximericans.

Also, they wouldnt be sending money home because their whole family will be over here on a Work Perment.

TO THE POINT-----No matter if you are white, black,mexican or whatever, there is still some SORRY MTF's in every race and there are some that will work there asses off for you. Just dont tell me that overall ,mexicans work harder than Americans because that is a bunch of BS.

Even my sorry-est Mexican workers have been better employees than the average American worker!

NOW THAT IS AFTER HAVING WORKED AN ALL AMERICAN WORK CREW FOR THE FIRST TEN YEARS OF MY BUSINESS, THEN AN ALMOST 100% MEXICAN CREW FOR THE REAMINING 8 YEARS.

Every once in a while we have to hire an American worker or two for one reason or another, and it's a good thing we do!

WHY?

Because it is a good reminder of why we almost exclusively work Mexicans.

YES, if they become too Americanized they will probably get lazy, but as long as they are Migrant workers, they are good workers!

THERE IS NO COMPARRISON!

You obviously have not worked too many Mexicans if any!

I once had 2 mexicans working together on a truck for 2 years W/great pay. they were great workers I cant get americans to stay for more than 1year.
I got them a apartment, (in my name of course)They worked hard and honest.Until it started with being late for work then missing work on mondays because they go out on sunday and get waisted. then them quitting after the slow months were up and it got hot outside.
Im not saying they arnt good workers but they got sorry as time wore on.and they expected more and more every year. Why give them more when I can go get 10 more just like them for less,They are limited to what they can do (manual labor) thats it, because they cant understand what you are trying to teach them.

I still have one mexican working for me and I pay him extra $ because he is a great worker and he can speak good english and translate for me when I have mexicans on the job. He has worked for me for 4 years.

I'm with chuck on this one. I have had the exact same experience. Hire a white dude every once in a while to remeber why its all hispanics now!

We've had a few drunks work for us too. They did'nt last long for the same reasons as you are stating.

All of our mexican workers are now on the H-2b program, and must be pretty straight lace folks before the consulate will issue visas to them. (No felonies and no recent deportations)

Because of this, we get darn good workers that are darn good people.

Many of them are skillful folks that are mechanically inclined, have contruction background, can paint, lay tile, weld and etc.....

Most of my workers are married and have children and other incentives to work, so they just want to do what is right so they support their famies back home.

With the ???undocumented??? workers, you'll get alot of losers.

How does the H-2b program work?

HOW DOES THE H-2B PROGRAM WORK?

Basically, in a nutshell, you apply to the U.S. Dept of Labor for "Labor certification" for as many foreign workers you need.

Then, based on that labor certification, you apply to the U.S. Immigration service.

If the DOL grants labor certification, you can pretty much count on the Immigration granting approval if you do everything correctly.

After Immigration grants approval, foreign workers then apply for visas at a U.S. Consulate abroad based on your labor certification and immigration approval.

The whole process takes about 120 days and you must go through the whole process every year.

Count on spending several thousand dollars.

Very good point you posted!

The mexicans that I have been curently employing are of course
illegal, so mabey Bush's plan will work for the better.Let's hope so anyway.For most mexicans are great workers.

But, what about the ones that dont fall into that catagory ( no felonies or deportations) will no one hire them.or will they only for lower wages? To save money for their businesses of course.

And will all the money that they earn and send home to mexico will that have a factor on the economy by not being spent in the US?
ONLY TIME WILL TELL!

This will help weed out the bad mexican employes so we have a chance to hire the good ones, but what about the good americans that want and will do work?I dont go and sit around at prisons and wait for a criminal to get out of jail so I can give them a job. Who does?

Like I was saying in a earler post IT doesn't matter if you are white,black,mexican,or whatever there are still some sorry MTF's out there just looking for a paycheck. So why not find the right American worker to do the job instead of just going out and finding the right Mexican to do the job? Give Americans a chance before you judge all of them as slack complaners.

By the way Mexican employes do complain as much if not more about the work as the American employes but you just cant understand what they are saying!

YES!, there are a FEW Americans that are good employees.

With H-2b AND Bush's plan, you have to offer the job to American workers before you get labor certification and Immigration approval to hire foreign workers.

By doing this labor test, we are able prove that we are unable to find American workers to do the job.

YES, people do apply for the jobs, BUT very few are hireable.

We must prove to the DOL that we refused to hire these individuals for legal job related reasons.

The DOL gets copies of the resumes and job applications and can check with job applicants also.

SO to answer your question, Americans ARE offered the jobs first!

Another thing: My Mexican workers do not complain very much. I treat them well, I understand and speak Spanish, and I have systems in place that do not allow for complaining!

I WILL NOT have *****ers and complainers working at my company!

My rule is: THERE IS NO REASON TO COMPLAIN IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT SOMETHING.

IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY, YOU ARE TO DISCUSS YOUR GRIEVIENCE WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR.

IF YOUR DIRECT SUPERVISOR CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM THEN YOU SHALL DISCUSS YOUR GRIEVENCE WITH TOP MANAGEMENT.

TOP MANAGEMENT WILL DO EVERYTHING IN IT'S POWER TO RESOLVE THE GREIVENCE.

IF THERE IS NO WAY TO RESOLVE THE GREIVIENCE YOU HAVE ONLY THREE CHOICES.

1. QUIT

2. BE TERMINATED IF YOU ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE.

3. LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT HOWEVER YOU MUST DEMONSTRATE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

A BAD ATTITUDE IS NOT AN OPTION AT MY COMPANY!

I never said it was a dumb idea, I just said that there are some good white workers out there!!

Set your arogance aside and open your mind and your ears!

I know of several companies that use white workers and they do NOT baby sit them and the perform EXCELLENT results. They show up every day on time or early and volonteer to work weekends if bad weather is moving in the following week.

I never said that Mexicans were BAD workers either. Many are good workers, AS WELL AS some white workers!!!!

The problem I've ran into, is that out of about 30 American workers that I hire, I find only one or two really good ones and 3 or 4 acceptable workers.

With the Mexian workers the odds are more like 1 in 6 finding one that is really good, and out of the remaining 5, 3 are acceptable workers.

BUT even the, two workers that are not acceptable still show up to work every day and on time. Normally they are just slow and/or have bad attitudes.
