  • Echo or Stihl???

Echo and Stihl are the brands that my dealer sells. I have been using echo blowers for about 4 years (PB1000) and recently just upgraded to a commercial grade handheld STIHL blower. The power is insane. I also use all echo weedeaters. I was just curious if you guys had used echo and stihl in blowers, hedge trimmers and weedeaters and what you thought of the brands. The STIHL handheld I just got has atleast 3 times as much power as my old echo handheld.

If your curious how I actually guessed its close to 3 times stronger its because I build race cars and we have a CFM meter for carbureator flow. It kinda works the same way.

I have had alot of luck with the stihl trimmers and blowers. I have fs 80 trimmer and the 420 back pack blower. I had the handheld blower b4 - but I was glad I spent the extra money for the back pack blower. They are more powerful and more productive for claen ups and walking and blower larger properties.

I have a echo hedge trimmer not as impressed. The stihl products start up in 1-2 pulls, but the echo hedge trimmer always needs alot more pulls for some reason.

      Go with Stihl.

I have both Echo and Stihl BP Blowers (BP-751T and BR 420C) and they are great, and are well-supported by local dealers - which is crucial. The Echo 751T has a ton of flowrate but is kinda heavy and sucks a lotta fuel. The Stihl is lighter weight, revs quicker and extremely durable. Both are reliable steady performers and highly recommended.

Once you step into the commercial world of equipment, you'll find they are mostly very high quality. Put each one on for several minutes, ask about support from the local distributer (How long to wait for a part that must be ordered?), and think what type of rack you'll need to support 1 or 2 of them - and make sure the blowers are LOCKED on your truck, or you'll be buying more.

I use all Stihl trimmer, edgers and blowers. I used an Echo trimmer for a couple of years. Always hard to start and had head issues as well. Go with the Stihl products. You will not regret buying them.

Stihl is absolutley the way to go. I agree withPTLlandscapingIL, Echo is cheap home depot junk. Had an Echo trimmer and always had to fight it to start. I have several Stihl products including one brush cutter (strait shaft trimmer) that I have used since 1995. Allmost tens years of durable, reliable service and its a real monster for heavy brush here in southern Louisiana.

I bought ther Stihl commercial handheld for several reasons....when you are mowing a small account it seems easier to use a handheld because it does take a few seconds to strap on the backpack blower...another reason is if you need to blow clippings and things out of beds you can't do it with the backpack as well as the handheld. I hold my handheld pretty much vertical to remove clippings and not all the mulch. I am going to go invest in a new stihl bbackpack blower this week though..might even buy one of there weedeaters and see how it compares to my echo. I will post back with results

                          Stihl for me

I have used the FS250 trimmer for my fields and they are tough as nails. That is about what I have to cut through half the time so I need a monster. It is tough to start. It takes about 20 pulls. This is after a tune up.
I have Stihl pole pruner HT-100 and it starts just by looking at it!
I am now looking at the BR 420C. I figure I may as well go all Stihl.
I had an Echo trimmer and it was just too light for commercial applications.

I have 3 echo 750's the biggest they make . I recently switched to the redmax 8000. that is the way to go. No one in my area use sthill. they have no power. sthill chainsaws are great.

Stihl has been good to us, as well, Echo has to.

Right now we have one stihl hedge trimmer trimmer down and the Echo`s which is are a year older is still running.

Which reminds me I need to order a new starter recoil for it.

Just a few more weeks to start that first shrub trimming,,unless it stays cool.
