  • Redmax or Echo Backpack Blower

Was loking at the Redmax 8000 today and my dealer started pushing the Echo PB 651 for $100 less claiming that that there is not much difference in power. Needed for leaf work this fall. Any comments will be appreciated.

Start them up and try both out in the dealer's parking lot. You'll see the difference.

        Wrong!

The 8000 is stronger without question.

I have an Echo pb620 and absolutely love it. Never fails to start and has plenty of power to get the job done. I might be mistaken but isn't there a bigger echo blower than the 651? I thought there was a 700 series. maybe not
We do the impossible, because it limits the competition

i got a pb751t last year and it works great. no problems at all. if you search the post on the redmax you will find there are some issues with the blower. that is not to say the echo is without problems but i have not heard any. dependability to me is worth the extra blowing power. time spent at the dealer is $$$ lost. warranty does not cover your time.

The echo is probably more reliable. My 8000 has had many problems 4 chokes assmblies , 1 carb , 1 blown engine. All under warente. It is a bit more powerfull than the 751. I have 2 echo 650's 1 751 and the redmaxx 8000. The 650 is the lightest by far

How about try the redmax 7001 ... it is more then enough power and its cheaper then the 8000... and a little lighter... Im not sure what the echo runs price wise but i know the redmax 7001 should be in the low to mid 400 range. I used to use echo ... now im switching to redmax... i love my redmax edger and weedeater .. using a kawasaki blower right now but im about upgrade to the redmax 7001 which i use my old partners enough to know i love it.

Sorry, but I ment the pb751, not the 651. Last I checked, the red max had a bigger engine, but the air speed and volume along with a few other things were better on the echo.

I bought a REDMAX 8000 last month. It was either a street blower or a 8000. I made the right choice. If you are good at blowing a 8000 is 25 to 30% faster than a 7001 for doing small parking lots. Parking lots that are 20 to 30 cars it is untouchable, the 8000 is faster than the street blower and back pack combo for that job. I had a 650 ECHO, I will never buy another!

Watch out what dealers tell you is the best to buy. They may be getting some type of kickback from Echo to push them so they can earn more money from the Echo vs. Redmax.

The echo recoils are week. The mexicans shut the blowers off with out letting them cool for a few seconds and when the engine diesels from being so hot, it breaks the recoil pully. I go through pullies like mad douring cleanups. Damn Essey's.

I bought a new PB 650 ECHO in 2002 and it was a piece of TRASH! More problems than I care to list the recoil was just one of them. Echo quality has sure gone downhill.
