What size boards did you get?

I could pull the wire mesh up but that would be more difficult and easier to just put washers and bolts instead of drilling the frame.

    I could get like 5/16 x 8 x 12 and need maybe 9 boards or so?

It was 2 or 3 years ago....I faintly remember.

I wanna say 6" wide deck boards. Whatever they had at HomeDepot. The trailer was a 5'x8' and from the picture, there is either 9 or 10 boards across. Remember, you're not gonna want these boards butt up against reach other unless the treated lumber you buy is still damp from the treating process. I remember having at least 1/4" to 3/8" spacing between each board. That's really conservative, but I didn't care, as I was just selling it.

Just leave it mesh. Invest in a lot of Rustoleum and let it be.

When i replied yesterday i really didnt look that trailer over that good but now after viewing i agree with 1chaves....

There's that old saying you can paint a turd with 20 coats of paint and if you push on it its still gonna give and your gonna have turd on your hands....

Now that will probably work for you now , but i wouldn't invest more then absolutely necessary to get it road legal .... Just do the minimum ,use it , make enough money , and buy somthing nice instead of putting a lot of time money and energy in whats still gonna be a turd in the final stage....

Yea you can do anything with anything if you just wanna prove you can do it , but you`ll have more money invested then the trailers final worth plus all the lost time energy , and money.....

I couldn't get a good look at the spring hangers and such with the pictures so are you positive that thing is really safe for the road ??????

What about the ball hitch does it lock nicely ,and securely ???

Are the tires fresh , cracked or ready to blow , and will a cop arrest you for reckless endangerment if you get pulled over and the boards are loosened up flapping around , with bald tires and you were pulled over because the old cracked wiring shorted out killing the lights on the way home and frying the trucks electrical system??????

Plus i didnt realize how the gate was so rough so im just wondering if your best interest really lies in fixing this thing just for the sake of fixing it or doing the minimum then useing it , and selling it to someone else camouflaged by many coats of paint??????

And please dont take this wrong its just hard for me to gauge how bad or good a shape this thing is really in with the pictures that were available because on second look today it looked questionable especially if you want to look top notch compared to others..........

Dont forget you only get 1 time to make your 1st best impression on the customer so how professional can that thing be made to look and will people wonder about the quality of the service based on somthing as silly as the trailer sitting in front of their house while you try to make the sales pitch to them and why your their guy......

If its a go good luck just dont invest more then the trailers worth......

Ohhh if you go with it i would have the welder friend weld some side posts rather then use wood because sooner or later regardless how big the washers are they pull through the wood , loosen up then you have to re-tighten , then they loosen again after some bumps, and this continues in a viscous cycle until your aggravated ,wished you had welded from the beginning then wish you had gotten a real decent trailer that suited your needs right from the beginning.....

And i see leaves all over meaning its been sitting around quite a while so the wheel bearings need a checkup , greasing , and it just seems there's a lot of work there if you dont have a garage and the proper tools which you may or may not have......

I hope you have access to a welder , air compressor and lots of air tools to make this easy!!!!!

Time is money plus it needs money thrown at it also so im really wondering how this will get done , look decent (without spending more then the trailers worth) especially being it will be used daily / commercially , and not just a once in a while deal where it could get you by in a pinch to move furniture or wood.......

Possibly used as a backup or trailer for a second crew in the future would be more realistic after some serious time and free supplies that show themselves from others left over projects!!!!!!!

Just some serious thoughts to chew on but i wish ya the best on whatever you decide!!!!!

              All in all...

from a purely objective point of view the above has some excellent advice. I have a problem getting emotionally attatched to projects like this, especially when it come to work stuff. And sometimes I wish I had listened to others' advice!!!
