Why not just put the patio at grade and use normal paver restraint? The money saved in 6x6 could have built better steps.

Because 'at grade' would have submerged this patio in storm water runoff. He would have had to cut into the ground by the house and install retaining walls as well.........

The property is unique to say the least. Raised was the best solution all around.

They came with the house.....I dunno, I guess he thinks they look fine? IMO they are cheesy and clash with the patio.

I'm preparing an quote for another patio, this one should be much more attractive. Perhaps I'll land the gig and post some more patio photos.
Ya, you could spend some real money to match the deck, but atleast get him to put some kick plates in and run some deck boards hor. or vert. on the sides to close it in. It will dress the wood steps up with very little cost. On any deck I do, I run decking boards vert. from the ground to the bottom of a 1 1/4 overhand on the deck. It closes the deck up and really looks sharp. My 2 cents.

Looks good. I think I would have built a deck, though. That way those cheesy steps are gone.

YeeHaw...I think I've sold another patio gig.

Client just needs to talk it over with her husband. They're building a new garage on their property among other misc improvement projects. It wasn't hard to sell this one.....she basically just wanted a cost. I figured I had it sold on the first visit to the property....today should have sealed the deal.

157 SF half circle patio. Basketweave (she preferred) laid in red concrete pavers with charcoal colored soldiers edge. This one ought to be a little fun to install. Hella lots of cuts though.
