i agree with scraper. if you take a close look at any gas pump there is a little sticker that says it contains at least 10% ethyl. ethyl is made from corn, a renewable resource. the top dragsters and funny cars all run straight ethyl. surely with all of the men and women that claim to be scientists they can come up with something.

My minimum has been the same for the last 2 years. In spring, 2 years ago, it used to cost me $26 to $28 for 20 gal. of gas. When gas goes up to $2.75/gal it'll cost $55. I normally have to fill up 2 times a week, and sometimes 3 times a week depending on the work-load that week.

Now take a look beyond filling up the gas tanks and take into consideration everything else you need to run the business. Every mower, trimmer, blower, truck and trailer part is going to be more expensive. Now take into consideration the rising costs of insurance, office supplies, safety equipment, chemicals. What about uniforms? How about labor costs with the gov't raising the minimum wage? I'm sure most CPA's are going to be charging more for their services as well.

Now you're trying to tell me that your prices are decreasing this year? Can't wait until you need to replace that ZTR, truck or skid steer. That's when the reality of inflation kicks your butt.

Boy, you really make things sound bad. Maybe for you they are. 9mpg is terrible.

I can outfit a 3 man crew for $13000 and that includes the truck. I still net 30% or so after I figure in fuel, new equipment and all of the overhead.

You know, now that I think of it, high gas prices are probably one of the best things that could happen to the green industry. This will weed out those who are not serious about the business and will reduce those who do not have tight control of their numbers. Let's say that gas hits $5 in the future. How many start up scrubs do you think that we will have? A lot less, that is for sure. Of course, that means more work for the rest of us.

I don't think Raised gas price will keep scrubs down. They will just raise prices enough to keep going and still make a dime or 2.

I never stated/claimed every statement in his article to be the absolute truth. I found the article interesting in its capacity to raise awareness. We can't keep running around with the attitude that everything will be ok and we have 100-200 years to fix the problem or find alternatives. Being a pasifist rarely, if ever, produces results.

As far as blaming republicans, as opposed to blaming the gov't and world leaders in general, seems a little obsurd. To be quite honest I have a hard time differentiating between the democrats and republicans in todays gov't. Seems to me that they're all a bunch of dirt-bags who care more about lining their own pockets than how the American public is doing. Pointing a finger at either is nothing more than pointing a finger at all of them.

If you do a search on any search engine you can find many differing views of how much oil is left....I will not leave adresses of any sites includeing those that say more oil is left in the planet than anyone can possibly comprehend..There are just to many views ,and all are based on outdated data....Perhaps if you have time to methodically search entire info on said subject, you can lead a link and fill me in on the latest data,hopefully done withen the past 10 yrs...

What i have found is that people have been told over and, over, that oil was going to run out every 10 yrs since the advent of the great oil burning lantern...Around 1910 people were told oil was soon to be depleted..Thats when oil used to bubble to the surface on it own naturally and nobody new any better...Considering more than half the planet is still untouched and not been seen by man the oceans could have many areas where oil at this time is bubbleing out of the surface and nobody has a clue to its existance...

When people looking couldnt find it bubbling to the surface someone with a positive attitude drilled a hole 10 feet down, and as you said "WOW" they found more oil,Thank god, Saved again. GOSH GOLLY ,GEE WIZ....

When the 10 ft wells were dry, someone went to 20 ft after everyone was told oil was all gone by people who are always around to spew the negative outlook ,instead of stepping back and looking for the solution...

I dont see the similarities when you delve into the facts... Go 1/3 down your advised site ,click and read MORRY ALDERMAN,an MIT professor,and read the entire article... He explains there is no shortage of oil but how the environuts and politics among other things are keeping the oil in the ground ....
