    Looking to sell - Need Tips: Part II

    Ok guys, I put a post on here a week ago or so about selling my business. To my knowledge, I never got any responses, and I can't seem to locate the thread that I started. Maybe I did something wrong. Anyway, I just need some advice from you guys. I have a full setup of equipment (Truck, trailer, rider, push, edger, weedwhacker, blower, and hedger). I also have 9 accounts. The time as come for me to get out of the lawn business, and I just need some tips as to the best method for that. How do you figure the best price for an account? Also, if I have accounts that are "friends of the family" is it proper to sell those too? Any help is appreciated. Thanks again.

      Sell the equipment seperate, the give the accounts to someone you trust and take a % for a year or something. 9 is not enough to sell as a business, and since you would be aranging these family freinds to keep getting there lawn mowed, they may thank you.

        For anybody that buys the complete equiptment package, throw in the accounts for free as a sweetner.

            Spot are you losening up on your position on the selling of customers?

              Is any of that worth selling? For the small quantity of eqt, perhaps it'd be better to sell it all individually (such as in your local newspaper, and/or craigslist).

              Customers could be handled in the same way, sell them off as a whole. But as clclawn said, 9 isn't much and I don't think that'd excite many buyers. It'd be easier to hand the customers away for free.

                no i still just as tight as i was......it was a joke. i still would never buy clients nor would i sell my clients if i ever decided to get out of the business......

                  Put a flyer up at your local car wash.
                  A lot of those guys that work there have the "no how".
