Had a claim today, a freak accident, was at the hospital for the entire afternoon. The employee is doing fine, will just take time to heal..........Thank god for workers comp.................

12.9 Landscape install.

I was caught by a Divorced female inspector and her two Divorced Female trainees on a landscape install. Needless to say I found out the hard way to pay the higher 1/2 percent on all employees.

Yeah I can't get a commercial job I looked into because I have no Worker's Comp. I am running solo right now and can't cover myself according to my carriers. So I checked my rate so I could "hire" my friend just for this one account. Here in East TN I was quoted $5.56 per $100. So I guess I may be hiring my first employee just to get this job. :-)

Quick Question:
Since I am a newbie (operating two weeks) with about a year of planning and gut building, do you all consider me a SCRUB? I price my work as high, if not higher than the competition in the area. I am selling quality, not quantity.

workman's comp doesn't cover owners, so there's no point in me having it unless I hire anyone.

In Washington, workmen's comp insurance is administered by the State. A tad under 1/4 is paid by the employees, and a tad over 3/4 is paid by the employer. Employers or corporate officers can op in for coverage, but it can be expensive if you have alot of claims or one big claim.
