Hello Valued Forum Member dancom:

I hope this answers some Questions about the New Starts & the Stastics here. Forgive me, but I will Re Post this again in a New Thread with New Subject Title for all to Read.

It is my understanding that over 50% fail in this business in less than 3 years. There is over 1,000 individuals a month (Green Industry) in the US that purchase actual business licenses & you can bet plenty more that don't purchase business licenses. You could probably then Double that figure very easy, if not more.

There is Several web sites you can go to get information (List) about new start ups in the business, but you pay a high price for it. If you notice or not this is why when you get a business license you Start Getting Plenty of Green Industry Mail. Yes, all this Information is Very Valuable & is Sold Daily.

The numbers of Members that Actually post at forums is roughly around 25% to 30% of Total Membership on the average as the forum gets bigger those percentages drop, but the majority of the others that don't post, joined so they can read the topics in all the Forums.

Also over 50% of the Traffic (Over 300,000 Page Views in Dec. here) are Visitors that are not Registered. This is also Very Common Place at the Majority of Forums that can be read without registering membership!

I keep numerous statistics on both Visitors & Members alike. At the Moment about 5% of the members here are not active. What I mean is their E-mail addresses are still good & they continue to take my Monthly Newsletter. They also are visiting this Web Site, a lot that are registered will not even come in through the Log In at the Forum. I also track by ISP# & all this Information is for my use only. It will never fall into others hands.

There is 2 sometimes 3 private forums here at all Times. You don't see them unless you are Registered to that particular Forum. I take care of that behind the scenes by myself & no one knows if they are or not. That's a Private Issue here.

The "Chat & Off Topic Forum" here can only be viewed by Registered Forum Members only, there is another Private Forum that I have for me Only, it's where I save those Special Post that Vanish off the Face of the Earth, I keep them mainly for future references. There is one More Private Forum & I can't really talk about it, it's more of Experimental than anything else.

I even have another Exact Duplicate Forum like this one, that is Kept up to Date, just for me to Change Code, a back up & Experiment with, before I make Changes on this Forum, So there will be Less Errors in the future before I go Live! []

Hey Dancom, This was to me my first year of actually having a lawn BUSINESS. I've really enjoyed 2002 and am trying to expand for 2003. I'm like you dancom, I really wished I would've found this forum earlier. (preferably before I bid on any of my accounts!) But oh well, this year has to be chalked up for experience and learning. I'll tell you one thing, besides taking in account for the experience factor, I've learned more on this site than I have all year before I became a member on here. Just for Grassmaster's info, I do come in on the lawnservicing homepage. Hehe, and have actually bought some stuff from one of the sponsors on here.

A question for Admin though, what gave you the idea to start this forum? great idea! When did this baby start? Are lawn forums becoming a fad among the Green Industry? Grassmaster, do you still operate your lawn business? I here you mention some things about your shop too. ttyl!

              Hello Valued Member FeartheDeere:

Thank You for your Support & don't forget to Click those Banners every now & then, it Helps the Forums Survival! []

I have put a lot of work, time & money into Lawnservicing.com since 1996 - it's start on my Local Computer & I came to the point later to let it sit or Use it to Help me get more traffic. Now I'm Getting Plenty of it & it's Growing More & More everyday, I just Need Sponsors? Over 10,000 page Views a Day now!

I had also seen other Forums start up with Zero Content & Grow very Fast, So I incorperated the Lawnservicing Forum Community into the already full of Content Lawnservicing.com & it is Off to a Very Good Start Considering it's only been live Since April 18th, 2002 that's less than 9 months well in 8 days it will be 9 months, at the rate of Growth here by the First Anniversary we should have close 1,500 registered members!

I wouldn't say Forums are a Fad, because there's not that many Forums & not enough people to go around if many more pop up. There is only about 5 Total, I'm in #3 Spot & very soon (few Months Max) I'll be #2 Spot & Then in a Few Years #1, I Hope?

It takes time & I've learned a lot & I'm still learning how to Run the Forum & How to deal with all the Responsibilities that comes with it. You got to remember I'm the Only Moderator & I have many other Duties here also, Which is a Lot of My Success in this fast growing Community!

Because Most all the Members here are from other Forums. BTW: I have numerous dedicated members here that help me By Flagging Content for me, that really helps me a lot T00. Thanks a Million for all the ones that Help the Community here by Flagging Content & E-mailing me about things that are not Right or Shouldn't be here! []

I sold My Lawn Service back in Early 1990 or 1991, LOL I can't remember Now & Took a Year Break & Now I own a Outdoor Power Equipment Dealership. Which is the Biggest Mistake I made in my Life, Retail is for the Birds! I Prefer Service Type Businesses.

I've Owned Several Businesses in my Day & I plan to own Several More in the Near Future! I think the Thing I dislike Most about the Shop is I've had it for over 5 Years, I've never had anything over 5 years except My Family. I'm a very Firm believer in Changing what you do about every 5 Years. It Builds Character & Will make you far Better off!

I have worked for other lawn maintenance companies for years. Last year I started on my own part time. This year I am branching out into full time work. Things are looking real promising. God bless you all this year that are in the business.[8D]
