How’s this for hell I am at my biggest account. Its at least ten hours of cutting on a 50 inch Dixie and at least another ten of weedeating, edging, weeding, and clean up. All bahia grass in Florida weather so it grows like crazy. Mower was in the shop all day yesterday so I pushed Monday’s accounts to Thursday cause I hit this account every Tuesday no matter what. I am out there cutting away and the manager comes by watches me for a minute then calls me over. She proceeds to tell me I am leaving too much cut grass on the ground and that I need mulching blades. I tried to explain that the grass is out of control this time of year and this amount of excess though noticeable is normal, not to mention I never let it go more than 7 days. Her response " well you need to be out here cutting 2 times a week now since you don’t do anything in the winter". She walked off, leaving me pissed speechless. Then to top it off mower just up and breaks down on me 45 minutes later looks like tomorrows another day down.
So if anyone has suggestions on how to limit the amount of excess grass left after a cut, or has experienced in any problems mentioned above? I would appreciate your input.
Thanks

. I am checking out the doubles now and when i was in the shop i looked at some 72" mowers. I could have walked out with one well under 9000 but i think i have decided to bust it out for the rest of the season and put my winter money towards a new mower. I did have one question though the mower i looked at today had a 27 hp engine. There is another mower same deck but it has a 32 hp engine. I am sure it is at least a couple grand more. Is 5 hp worth the difference in price since i am dealing with some mean bahia?
