    Under Florida Coop. document PI-6
University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension outreach is a partnership between state, federal, and county governments to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public. The University of Florida (UF), together with Florida A&M University (FAMU), administers the Florida Cooperative Extension Service.

    Yardman
A yardman who applies a pesticide to the lawn or ornamental plants of an individual residential property is exempted from licensing and certification requirements if the yardman applies pesticides owned and supplied by the individual property owner. The yardman cannot advertise for or solicit pest-control business and cannot hold himself out to the public as being engaged in pest control. The yardman cannot supply his own pesticide application equipment, use pesticide-applying power equipment or use any equipment other that a handheld container when applying the pesticide
    .

also note that it is very specific to list residential and does not allow an uncertified person to apply to commercial props.
So don't do it if you can't afford to pay the fines.

If you know a little more about it please let me know, I have a few customers with concerns.
to treat beds you can get certified and be legal. It's not a hard process but I do suggest that you get some kinda mentor along with some several books.
Once again, contact your local county ag agent for info on how to get legal.
You can also contact this guy, he's a member on this board but we probably won't be seeing too much of him here anymore.

All this yardman clause stuff is new to me. Anyone know if there is anything like this in Georgia. I have my applicator licenes but rarley use them. I contract all my spraying though a friends company. As of right now it is cheaper for me that way.

I went through Bob kesslers program. well worth the cost. I find it very easy to tell customers anything making you lawn ugly you need to call a PCO. then it is in their hands and out of mine. I have found that people play musical lawns quite often with the PCO's they seem to go through more often that lco's shoal

Sorry all I don't read every thread and just saw this one about crab grass.

Asulox is the Herbicide that we used to use to kill Crabgrass and a few other grassy and broad-leafs. The Manufacture was catching to many complains and not enough PROFIT from homeowners because of misapplication. When the EPA registration came up for renewal they did not renew the horticulture label. They do however sell the same chemical now by a different name by the train car load to Agriculture.

The state of Fla. Bureau of Pest Control send out notice to all Licensed Pesticide operators to STOP using Auslox on horticulture property about 3 years ago. Legal companies have complied with the law and most have stopped treating for crab grass all together. Illegal operators are buying the agriculture labelled product and doing illegal application.

Is there a way to control Crab grass in St Augustine legally???

The question should read "How many legal ways can Crabgrass be controlled in St Augustine?"

Baking Soda is not one of the LEGAL (or effective) ways to control crabgrass. Homeowners are bound by the same laws of pesticide application as Certified operator. By telling a customer to use Baking Soda you are only telling them to break the law.

Do I control Crabgrass in St Augustine legally? Sure, Weed free lawns is what I do.

Bob does have a silver tongue. I have taken one of his courses. Since I also teach, I will not say he blows a lot of smoke, just that I don't agree with him on many things.

Ric,...first, it's good to see you here, also.
I haven't looked up the labels yet, but is Acclaim and Drive 75 not able to be used in St. Augustine? I guess I could see how and why it couldn't, if indeed it cannot.....
