...when you know (and have proof) that an unlicensed pesticide business/applicator offered, advertised, or already has applied a pesticide for a customer?

Do you turn them over to the state?

Do you threaten the business to do so?

Do you look the other way?

Do you inform the business about the legalities?

Do you inform their customer about the legalities?

Do you drive by and throw eggs at their truck?

    Yes,
Since you're licensed, I think you should contact your county agent & let them deal with it... It's their job, the tax payers pay them to take care of situations like this!

I just had a conversation with my ag agent about this same subject.
He said more people are getting turned in. He just wants to educate people but if you push his buttons, he'll ruin your day. He'll take your info, ask you to stop applying and then give you information on how to get legal.

he quickly told me a story that happened one county over. Code stopped an illegal applicator, tried to talk to her but she got kinda pissy so he wrote her a $1500 ticket, then the applicator got really pissy with him. So he followed her to the next stop, parked down the street and watched her do it again. Slammed her with a $3000 fine, all in a matter of an hour. He was gonna follow her again but I guess she had enough and went home.
I just wonder why he didn't confiscate her stuff. Of course if they did that to everybody, he'd have to unload it all and fill out tons of paperwork.

Depending on who they are,, I just might hook them up, otherwise, I'd try to talk to them.

I was told the average fine here in Kansas for a violation made by a licensed applicator runs about $2k. Kinda makes me wonder how hefty a fine to an uncertified person is?

GM, true county agents are paid to educate and such, but pesticide inspectors are paid to enforce the pesticide laws. Personally, I'd rather tip off the inspectors.....besides, it gives them some excitement.

i'd look the other way if it were me. i could care less what some other business is doing. i'm concerned about my business only. i don't care what the other guys are doing. as long as i'm happy, making money and my business is booming it doesn't matter some other person not even a client of mine is getting work done by someone who is unlicensed.

Turn'em in. One of my clients is an ex Lieutenant for the agency in charge of licencing and enforcement of pesticide law. If some scrub is out doing wrong, then they deserve to get turned in. I pay a lot of money to make a lot of money, I am not going sit by while some one tries to under cut my prices and make me look bad for charging what a legitimate business has to in order to survive.

                    So what?

If everyone performed searches this forum would be dead.

This kinda attitude will keep you small. You gotta be concerned for YOUR INDUSTRY, not just yourself.

I disagree. The tree hugger elements are always looking for ways to shut us chemical loving guys down. Why give the Greens anymore fuel for their fire?

I care because the unlicensed guy makes me/us look bad. If we don't regulate and police our ranks, the environmentalist nut will shut us down. Take a look at what's going on in Canada if you think it will never happen here.

                        Turn his Arse in.

the only thing i MIGHT do would be talk to his clients letting them know he's unlicensed and that i am licensed. but as far as turning him into authorities. i'll mind my own business and just keep working at mine......

as long as your following the law no greens are gonna be able to shut the legal one's down. it's the illegal one's that will get shut down.

It's the illegal ones who will make bad applications bringing scrunity on ALL applications.
