  • over fertilizing lawns............

one of our esteemed lawn service members  has accused me of juicing up yards for my own personal gain without any regard for the lawn or the customer. what do you other lawn apes think about this type of behavior ? obviously, this member is still an under achieved lawn monkey who hasn't figured out a way to make $$$ in november other than raking leaves. one day he will figure it out and then he too, can become a lawn ape. even the scarecrow could have made an honorary lawn ape.

I service a couple of lawns on steroids, one is still getting over 8" of top growth per week. It is usually the first lawn invaded by chinch bugs and half of the back yard was killed by fungus.

none of my yards had any insect problems and only a few that were over watered had fungus issues which were treated accordingly. i don't have any that are growing 8" a week at this point, however they are still growing enough for a haircut. $$$$

You think I sit on my ass all day to answer questions?

PROMO is right, over fertilized lawns tend to be the first to show signs of problems.

So at what point is so much too much?

You're the one applying it, I guess you'd know?

I have to say this ranks right up there with the "what time is it" thread...pretty pointless.

                            ATTN Steve-o

                            I was thinking all day.

Run those irrigation systems at night when temps fall below 32. Ice will form on the grass blades. When ice forms, heat is released. I think this might fetch you an extra mow or two outta the season in conjunction with your fert dumping.
