And the "terminator gene" is not "out there" .....yet. They are still comfortable in getting their $7.50 per bag tech fee. They watch those numbers very closely.

Round up ready products are a good thing and a bad thing and I am not going to get into a pissing match over it, but for farmers, it has helped a lot. Round up ready soybeans and corn work.

Genetic engineering for insect and disease problems has been going on for years as well.

The sad thing about all the round up ready products is the fact that "super weeds" or whatever you want to call them will grow in numbers and there is no research or anything comming down the road that is new technology for them. Right now, Monsanto is just growing into a very fat cat.

Also, round up ready grass seeds are just around the corner, probly Ky Blue will be released first. There is already a lot of resistance from some on this issue because of the invasive nature of bluegrass into wild or natural areas.

Nothing you can do, but sit back and watch and I don't believe everything I read on the internet either.
Jeeps are like women.....much more fun with their TOPS OFF!

A society that rewards based on need creates needy citizens. A society that rewards based on ability creates able ones.

Do you guys think Obama is going to kiss us after he is done with us or is he going to put on his belt and head out the door?

I almost forgot the orginal question. Mix the Glyphosate product of your choice the the label directions and add a splash or 1/2 rate weed control of your choice to make it look like the weeds are dieing faster. Glyphosate I believe blocks protiens in the plant so it cant up take water so it takes two weeks for it to die no matter what. As for dishsoap, its a sufactant and if your are going up against big hairy or waxy plants, it seems to work better.

The quickest way to make something resistant is to use the same active ingredient over and over on the same species. You remove all the susceptible individuals and are left with resistant ones to breed. Its alwayas the best idead to rotate your use with igredients with different mode of actions. Most ingredients have an effective period but eventually that declines.

If you want to use an product off-label, that's your choice. Get caught doing it and it's up to the state in question to hand out whatever enforcement they have. Get caught using it off label and something seriously goes wrong, like killing off an estate lawn or expensive planting or talking out a prized pet. Not only will you get the fine from the state, you may be getting a trip to court and coughing up a huge check, either directly or through your increased liability insurance premiums. Buys your tickert, takes your chances

Big Greedy Monsanto aside, Percy Schmieser(sp?) got nailed because he planted seed he wasn't licensed to do. He lied about the pollen when almost all his crop turned up GMO positive. He changed his story several times, and he's been caught each one. That's why he lost his case. Monsanto has done some lousy things, but it was their product, they had contractual rules regarding the use of the crop. In spite of whatever he may have lost, he makes a big chunk of change going around the world as the darling of the anti-technology crowd giving speeches.

The fish-tomatoe thing never was. The adding of the gene from an fish that lives in cold water to keep it from freezing was added to a strawberry to try and get a frost resistant berry that would grow in cold climates and handle cold storage better, It NEVER made it. It failed in the lab.

Even the whole Monarch butterfly thing was a crock. I'll agree that corporations should not have control over most all our food from production to our table. Oh, and if you really hate bio-engineered plants, there has been growing ROUND-UP READY TURF GRASS growing in farm fields in the US for the last two years. Super grass coming to a lawn near you,. Bwahahahah!!

Genes are only beneficial when it allows an organism to survive in its environment. If you spray glyphosate on a plant and all but a couple die, the gene that selects against glyphosate is a good thing to have. If you remove the glyphosate form the equation, that gene becomes diluted and may even disappear if glyphosate is around.
