You said it, brother. It's nice to hear it from someone his own age too.

(Loud applause)Originally posted by anderson_lawnsI think that A+ Lawncare needs to go and get a job and work for what he gets. I am only 17 and i bought my first vehicle which is a 1979 Ford F-150. That is the problem with high school students their parents buying everything for them. Get out and get a job i work a second job besides my lawn care company. There times in the summer where i will work from 8 in the morning to 9 in the evening but atleast i can say i work for everything I get. By your parents supposedly rewarding you with a $20,000 vehicle just because you went to school doesn't give you respect for anything. Whos gonna pay the insurance and mainteance you r parents. That is the problem with most high school students there parents do to much for them. I grew up working to get anything that I wanted nothing was just given to me as a reward. The only rewards that I know are the ones that i get from myself. Your are so worried about getting laid you will never be a real business man. If you were smart you would go and buy the cheapest vehicle you can find for your first vehicle and work for a nice second vehicle.
Being 26 myself, I still remember those days when everyone around me had "the car daddy gave me". I've got to give you tons of respect for your attitude.

oh man I got those types in my area. Now my parents do pay for one or two of my things (like phone), but every thing else I pay. Part of my t/a my parents paid for sorta as a grad present, but it was a small, small fraction (car was close to $8k used), but BUT, I pay for everything on it (maintanence, repairs, etc.). $2k insurance on the car alone, not including my truck insurance and some other policies I have. My expenses a month are over $350 for insurance and storage since I don't have any room at my house. I also dumped close to $2k on that car last year when I crashed it, expensive but I learned one hell of a lesson. My parents have told me if I ever have money problems they can help me (within reason), but I have been good at budgeting that I don't need to.
I have a friend who doesn't pay for anything and makes it known too. However, he has a tough time in life sometimes cuz of his attitude w/ it and how others view it. Another friend of mine however, whose dad is worth an 8-digit figure, (has a huge construction, heating, etc. business) pays for his own stuff (even though he could have his dad) because to him, it teaches him important lessons with money (like how to have a budget and stuff).
I completely agree with my friend. I am glad I pay for my stuff, yea it sucks sometimes when money is tight, but at least I feel good about that I earned it. In the summer I work 60-70 hours a week to make money. In the winter I pick up a different job (detailing cars for dealerships) to have money in the bank for expenses. It angers me when these 'people' are like, 'do a crazy burnout' or 'why dont you beat the piss outta your t/a'. My response? 'Cuz I have respect for my objects because I paid for them. Your just a little tool with no respect. What happens when I break it then? Then I gotta pay for it.' Where I got to school, almost every kid is driving $25k+ new cars. I come rolling by in my 89 F250 and they laugh. But I'll have the last laugh some day when I see them bagging groceries, and that isn't far from the truth. My roommate at school has his parents pay for everything and he takes it for granted. I tell him 'youll be screwed in the future.' He's like 'hell yea' and knows its the truth so I don't mind it really.
My total expenses a year come roughly close to $6k maybe more (insurance, storage, gas, food). In my opinion learn to pay for your stuff, take control of it. It will help you learn to manage money and set a budget. If your parents want to help once in a while, that's fine. It's your parents, they want to. But if you take everything for granted from them, you'll be screwed.
Sorry if this long and ranting, but I thought I would help to prove a point.

Too bad i am not one of them people that take life for granted. our I would be telling everyone and their brother about the raises i get from my second job i am one of the highest paid non managers only because I bust my butt at work. People like A+ Lawncare wont know what it is like to actually work for something until they have nothing. I said nothing. And they have to start all over because his parents gave them everything. There is no work in giving besides it coming the workers hand to the nonworkers hand.Justin Anderson

I totally agree with you Justin. I hope you didn't look at some parts of my previous post the wrong way maybe from a few of your comments? But anyway, I hear from people my age 'haha, your cars are old, mines 2000+ model year'. I'm just like, pffft, I busted my ass for these. I hardly let anyone in my t/a, cuz most people don't respect it. Slamming doors, hands all over the paint; instead they get b!tched out and left in a parking lot.
At my other summer job, besides my lawn care bus., I work for the local school district. They hire I think 36 kids for summer employment, out of that, maybe 7 or 8 bust their ass including me. My boss trusts everything I do, and knows I know what I'm doing, never checks up on me or anything. I'm the only summer person who has used the JD 1600WAM because I don't think my boss would be able to trust most of the others to use such a huge machine.
Part of the future is screwed in my opinion. We're at a crossroads. The generations before worked for everything. Most of this generation received everything. The future is going to hurt, and the next generations are going to have to work for everything. It's the people like us that will succeed because we earned it all!

ha..... go figure, another prick like anderson, judgin me based on a few things i've said, if you'de know me personally then u'de know its very much different..... in my school, i'm the kid who has worked the longest and hardest..... and no i don't go to a rich private school, i go to a rural public school!! i started workin at age of 12 in the summer, and recently i work my as* off in the winter, year round since 10th grade....
I have saved every penny unlike most kids in my school who blew their earning on small crap that they don't need.... the money that i am saving is for college, so i don't have to work my as* off as a labor for the rest of my life......
Their buyin me a car, because i have proven to them alot of things....i used to be a frequent user and since rehab (last year) i have stayed cleaned and have turned my life around.... getting involved in clubs in my school and helpin out in church, ect....
This lawncare has really been a start to turn my life around, i bought all of my equipment, so i don't need to hear any of the BS....
Also, the money that i said i saved up for is for college, so i can persuade my career of a Horticulture major for the state....No Job too SMALL nor too BIG for A+ Lawncare
